Inertia (livetracks)

Mike Dickson

A less lively response than before, maybe. Some are positively docile. Others break into a short sprint then seem to give up after realising they are chasing nothing very much. A lack of motivation, maybe? That is maybe what we all need right now. A little less direction, and a bit more inertia. A bit more resistance to the change in our collective velocities.

This came in a rush, among a whole raft of disappointments. It's borne from a deep sense that things are fucked and will continue to be thus fucked. I am aware that it's not going to be everyone's taste, but the opinion of others has never really troubled me much. As Sterling Morrison once declared, I don't really care if what I do escapes the four walls from within which I am doing it.

As ever, completing this one makes me wonder from where the next one will emerge. After #50 you'd have thought I might be used to this. To be fair, this one fell into place in far less time that I would have thought possible. Sometimes it just comes to you out of nowhere. Big shout out to GForce Software for their outstanding instruments which loom large throughout these recordings. Great effors from them, and some very entertaining videos too. Doubtless having a big sound palette to draw upon helps a great deal. Some more astute (or determined) listeners will hear some sounds that have been re-used from previous projects. Unless they were really needed in their originally-used form I have messed with them to a great degree.

No CD mix again - I am not sure this one would benefit from being heard that way, even if it fits. I am slightly thinking of going back to making weird, abstract videos again though. I'll give that some thought.
